About Us

What We Believe

We believe that people matter to God. Even if they don’t know it yet. So we’re here to meet them wherever they are at, with Biblical teaching and messages that deal with their everyday challenges, hopes and heartbreaks. We’re going to communicate using ways in which ordinary people can relate to – through films, books, music and media, because we believe God is present in all things, at all times. Even now as you’re reading this!

The best way to understand and learn about any community is to experience it on the relational level. We ascribe to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith but while statements of faith can tell you what a community of faith’s beliefs are, but they can’t tell you who they are. If you’d like to discover who we are at Ivy Manchester, please come to one of our gatherings on Sundays, or download some of our recent teaching.

Core Convictions:
  • The Bible is God’s authoritative word to us, the maker’s instructions for humanity.
  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God – the only Saviour for a lost and broken world.
  • The local church is the hope of the world, God’s agent for redemptive change.
  • Every Christian is called and gifted by God to serve and make a difference.
  • The Church is called to evangelise the whole earth, by a Spirit-led uprising of radical Christ-following.
  • Community is a gift of God - essential for your growth as an individual and our growth as a church.
  • Jesus is coming again – soon!
Key Scriptures

KINGDOM FOCUS:
"Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." (Jesus in Matthew 5:16)

PASSION IS THE NORM FOR CHRIST-FOLLOWERS
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind and all your strength... Love your neighbour as yourself." (Jesus in Mark 12:30-31)

EVANGELISM + DISCIPLESHIP = OBEDIENCE
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20)

THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS OUR MISSION
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Jesus in Acts 1:8)

GOD STILL WORKS MIRACLES THROUGH HIS PEOPLE
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:42-27)

APOSTOLIC CHURCHES KNOW, GROW AND GO
In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. (Acts 11:1-3)
